Justice Department seizes over $560,000 in crypto donations for Hamas

The Justice Department seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations intended for Hamas's Al Qassam Brigades. Three cryptocurrency seizure warrants were later unsealed. Investigators used information from multiple human sources to track and seize approximately $560,000 in cryptocurrency. The seizures occurred on March 25, June 25 and Oct. 10, 2025. A group chat that claimed ties to Hamas allegedly used an encrypted messaging platform to direct supporters to a fundraising website. The group chat allegedly circulated different cryptocurrency addresses for donations. Officials gained control of domains and servers that the group used for recruitment and online appeals. The controlled domains included AlQassam.ps. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said Hamas's networks were not secure and that the Justice Department would continue targeting its ability to wage war. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said the seizures deprive Hamas of resources used to recruit and radicalize people online and finance attacks. The FBI Albuquerque Field Office led the effort with support from counterterrorism and cyber units.
