Zcash private transaction waits could fall from three seconds to under 200 milliseconds

Zcash developers released Zakura Common, a cryptography toolset that they say can reduce wallet time for creating a private transaction from more than three seconds to under 200 milliseconds in some cases. The software comes from the team behind Zakura, a Zcash node launched in July. The tools require no Zcash network upgrade. Zakura says its code makes the calculation more than 14 times faster on mobile devices. Zakura says the code makes the calculation more than five times faster on desktop computers. Hashing is more than 21 times faster. Node verification of private transactions is between four and eight times faster. Private Zcash transactions conceal the sender, receiver, and transfer amount. Wallets perform substantial cryptographic work to prove that concealed transactions follow network rules before sending them. Zakura is working to scale Zcash to more than 50,000 private transactions per second.
