Digital-asset companies operating in South Africa have halted deals worth billions of rand over proposed regulatory changes, people familiar with the matter said. The proposed changes would include cryptocurrencies under the country's exchange-control regime. They would also limit the use of cryptocurrencies in cross-border transactions.
