SEC proposes rules for investment fund custody of crypto assets

The US Securities and Exchange Commission proposed rules on Thursday that it said would help govern investment funds' custody of crypto assets under federal securities laws. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the proposed rules would provide a clear regulatory framework for crypto asset custody. Atkins said they would give investment advisers and funds a compliant pathway where none existed before.
